PSD SCHOOL CLOSURE UPDATE-3/16/20

Pomeroy School District Closure Update-3/16/20

Once again we are still awaiting guidance in various areas during this closure. However, we are offering several opportunities for students to access both meals and educational opportunities. We ask that all families use their own discretion in regards to being in public and always use appropriate social distancing. If you or your child are sick, we ask that you do not come to any of the distribution sites.

Food Service

Pomeroy School District will be providing a Grab n’ Go sack breakfast and lunch starting Wednesday, March 18th. Times of distribution will be from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. This service will be provided Monday-Friday, with the exception of spring break. Spring break is Monday, March 30th-Friday, April 3rd.

The distribution center will be located at the high school building at the main entrance. Students will be given lunch for the day and breakfast for the following morning. Students have to be present to pick up the breakfast and lunch, parents or other family members cannot pick up meals for a student. We will be very cautious during our distribution and ask that students stay outside of the building and the meals will be brought to you.

Backpack Program

The backpack program will continue throughout the closure. The food bags will be distributed on Friday’s from 10:00-11:00 AM, with the exception of spring break. The distribution site will be the main entrance of the elementary building. We will be very cautious during our distribution and ask that students stay outside of the building and the food bags will be brought to you.

Educational Opportunities for Learning

ELEMENTARY OPPORTUNITIES:

As we navigate through these difficult, confusing, and uncertain times, we want you all to know that we are all here for our students and families! We want to support you and your student in the best way that we can! Please be sure to communicate with your child’s teacher(s) and share any of your thoughts and questions. We know this is a very overwhelming time for families and we do not want to add to the stress of your daily life.

We would love to continue to support the learning of all our students in grades Prek-6th (playschool will not have a packet). Packets have been made up for students and families to pick up at the school starting this Wednesday, March 18th, from 9:00 AM- 11:00 AM.  These packets are not required and will not be used to provide your child with a grade when they return. They are simply for students to keep their love of learning going.

Each grade level will determine how often students can come pick up packets. Some packets have been created for a week and others include material for three weeks. This will be communicated using each teacher’s Facebook pages or communication tools. Teachers can always be reached by email with any questions.

Packets will be distributed from the main entrance of the elementary building. We will be very cautious during our distribution and ask that students stay outside of the building and the grade level packet will be brought to you.  If you cannot stop by the school to pick up a packet for your child, please contact your child’s teacher or call the elementary office (509) 843-1651, and we will see if we can make arrangements for an alternative drop off or pick up.

JUNIOR HIGH/HIGH SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES:

Junior High and High School supplemental materials will be available for pick up from 1-3 in the high school foyer on Wednesday, March 18th.
