3/14/20: POMEROY SCHOOL DISTRICT CLOSURE UPDATE
We are still working on several logistics in regards to the school closure announced by Governor Inslee on March 13, 2020. Pomeroy School District will continue to update our families and community as information becomes available. Here is some information I felt was important for families to know at this time.
FOOD SERVICE: We are awaiting guidance and information from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction in regards to how and if food service will be provided during the closure. We will provide this information as soon as our district has a plan to put it into place. I have spoken with the local food bank and they have done an amazing job getting prepared and prepped to support our local families. Their normal hours of operation are the 3rd and 4th Thursday of each month from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. However, they can be reached by phone if a family is in immediate need of food and supplies. You can contact Susie Bowles at (509)-843-1376 or on her cell at (509)-780-9825.
STATE TESTING: All state testing has been canceled for the 2019-2020 school year.
GRADUATION: Pomeroy School District’s Graduation date will remain on June 6th, 2020.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: Schools and districts that close in response to the COVID-19 outbreak should make every effort to make up missed time, including using scheduled vacation days and planned school closure days. However, OSPI will grant emergency waivers to allow districts to end the school year on Friday, June 19 at the latest. Therefore, the last day of school for the Pomeroy School District will be June 19th, 2020.
