DESCRIPTION OF THE CURRENT ASSIGNMENT:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The teacher will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities, ensuring they have access to a high-quality education in an inclusive environment.

Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities
• Instructional Planning and Implementation
o Develop and deliver individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
o Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities in various settings, including general education classrooms, resource rooms, or self-contained classrooms.
o Adapt and modify curriculum materials to align with students' learning goals and IEP objectives.
• Assessment and Progress Monitoring
o Conduct evaluations to assess student abilities, needs, and progress using formal and informal assessment tools.
o Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals, adjusting instruction as necessary.
o Communicate assessment results and progress with parents, guardians, and relevant staff.
• Collaboration and Communication
o Work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators to implement inclusive practices.
o Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and multidisciplinary team discussions.
o Serve as a resource for staff and families regarding special education services, accommodations, and instructional strategies.
• Compliance and Documentation
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including IEPs, progress reports, and required documentation for state and federal compliance.
o Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, ADA, and Washington State laws regarding special education services.
o Stay informed about changes to special education policies and practices.
• Support for Transition Planning
o Assist students and families in planning and preparing for post-secondary transitions, including vocational training, higher education, or employment.
o Collaborate with community resources and agencies to support student transitions.
• Additional Duties
o Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or special education director to support the success of students and the overall school mission.
QUALIFICATIONS TO FILL THE CURRENT ASSIGNMENT:
Teaching Certification
• Hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Washington State teaching certificate.
• Special education teachers must have an endorsement in Special Education.
• Pomeroy School District #110 is seeking to fill the current vacancy based upon the applicant’s abilities to meet criteria outlined in the duties and responsibilities.
COMPENSATION:
Placement on the Pomeroy School District GCEA bargaining agreement. Salary range based on education and experience: $51,580-$92,987, Offering medical, dental and retirement benefits.
