DESCRIPTION OF THE CURRENT ASSIGNMENT:
Supervises all phases of the school transportation system, from the routing of the buses, scheduling of routes, substitute drivers, and extra-curricular drivers, to the maintaining of driver's liability and legal records. Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments: Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools. Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. Repairs or replaces defective parts, using hand tools and power tools. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices, using hand tools. Starts devices to test their performance. Lubricates and cleans parts. May set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. May initiate purchase order for parts and machines. May repair electrical equipment. May be designated according to machine repaired as Carton-Forming-Machine Adjuster (any industry); Machine Adjuster (tobacco); Maintenance Mechanic, Record Processing Equipment (recording).

Requirements
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are included; other duties may be assigned, and work may occasionally occur beyond contract hours:
• Maintains current records to keep drivers legal and up to date. Plans and schedules bus routes, schedules route bus drivers, sub drivers, and any extra activity drivers.
• Works with parents and/or public relation problems that arise pertaining to transportation. Specs out to bid and/or orders new vehicles.
• Assures road conditions for student transport are safe in the winter and contacting television/radio stations to notify the public of changes to school time and/or the closure schedule.
• Read job orders and observes and listens to school buses in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
• Maintains all phases of school buses and district vehicles, or schedules time with other maintenance facilities to have warranty/repairs done in a timely manner. Services gas or diesel engines on school buses and district vehicles.
• Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on school buses, and makes necessary adjustments.
• Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired school buses to verify conformance to specifications.
• Fabricates special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings. Keeps current with employee safety training, such as bloodborne pathogens training, etc.
• As a district employee, they will follow all district policies and state laws.
QUALIFICATIONS TO FILL THE CURRENT ASSIGNMENT:
• Two to four years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Washington State School Bus Driver's Endorsement "S" and a current Washington State driver's license, Washington State Commercial Driver's License at least class B with passenger and air brake endorsements, and all other required credentials. **These can be obtained after employment.
