Description
Supervises meal preparation for consumption in school cafeteria (breakfast, lunch, and snack), utilizing cafeteria equipment and cooking experience. Specializes in providing lightly seasoned, nutritionally adequate, and varied diet that abides by the National School Lunch Guidelines. Inspects equipment for cleanliness and functional operation. Plans menus, orders food supplies and receives supplies delivered.
Requirements
DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES/PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
• Formulates menus to meet National School Lunch Program (NSLP) nutritional requirements
• Provides scratch-cooking meals and sides when possible
• Provides lightly seasoned, nutritionally adequate, and varied diet for students
• Inspects equipment for cleanliness and functional operation
• Cleans and sanitizes the workplace and cooking utensils
• Creates a positive, team-oriented work environment
• Bookkeeping, menu planning, orders food supplies, and receives supplies delivered, keeps food and kitchen inventories
• Supervises students during food distribution and in cafeteria when needed
• Manages, supervises and evaluates other kitchen staff employees ensuring they are accomplishing their assigned duties
• Organizes and stores food appropriately
• Attends required trainings associated with the position, as well seeks other professional development opportunities to improve job performance
• Keeps current with employee safety training, such as blood borne pathogens training, etc.
• As a district employee, follows all district policy and state law
